Our mission is protect the ocean. To be successful we believe that we must embrace our human diversity which means ensuring better gender representation in the ocean space. To do so we endeavour to undertake the following (contingent upon funding):
-Continued development of an online platform where women around the world can share their work, expertise and interest. This will be a searchable platform that connects women according to interests, themes and geographies.
-Organization and role out of several Women4Oceans events around the world. This is a forum dedicated to women with an interest for or an active role in protecting the oceans. These events provide networking opportunities, information sharing and confidence building for women.
-Where possible, supporting discrete projects undertaken by women and connecting these projects with other similar ones.
-Representation at major international forums dedicated to ocean protection and governance. These include: World Ocean Summit, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) summit for the Ocean (SDG 14), the Our Ocean conference, the conference on Gender Implications of the Law of the Sea in Milan and the International Marine Protected Areas Conference.
-Research on the role of women in a. Conservation and b. Fisheries and livelihoods derived from the sea.
-Mentoring and skill shares. This will primarily be done through webinars and online forums but in some cases in person trainings will be required.
-Organization of a summit of female thought leaders on what actions we must take for the ocean and how to insert that contribution into main stream discussions (which are often dominated by men).
